This basket is made by local Artisan Barbara Holt. Currently living here in Bristol, TN, Barbara is a native North Carolinian, a retired educator, and a second-generation basket maker. She has been making baskets for over twenty years and teaching basketry for sixteen years, including writing over 80 patterns to teach others the craft. She has served as the president of both the Tri-State Basketry Guild and the Tennessee Basketry Association. Barbara rarely makes the same design twice, preferring creativity over production. In her words: "Production is a demand, creativity is a passion."
